Luckily he was born in Hawaii

Daily Kos: Happy Loving Day
Barack Obama's parents would have been criminals in sixteen states when he was born, for the simple act of being married.

Gotta love the Daily Kos for this one. We owe the Lovings for fighting backward ideas and laws; culminating in the overturning of laws against interracial marraige in 1967. Luckily Barack was born in the 50th state.

Abducted by America

BBC NEWS | Americas | Major Guantanamo setback for Bush

I think that this is a positive step in the right direction. The detainees now have the right to challenge their detention. Being detained without any rights - ain't right! Next nasty American practice that needs to be scratched out: waterboarding.

O'Reilly makes me nauseous

Daily Kos: State of the Nation
As you can tell, I'm not an O'Reilly fan. His lowbrow media antics will forever provide fodder for the likes of Stephen Colbert.
Bill goes into the 'hood (Harlem) to visit a well known soul food restaurant and is amazed that he didn't witness any homicides. On the flip side he is shocked to hear that some bad apples exist in affluent suburbia. Of course, the only thing left is for Billy to make the assertion that inner city kids have no values compared to their affluent suburban counterparts.
Nice.

YouTool... I mean... Tube

Judge orders teens to post apology on YouTube - USATODAY.com

Apparently another sign of the times...
In my opinion, this could turn out to be a better form of deterrent, since these kids are hooked on YouTube and are easily influenced by what they see on it. It is still kinda funny that the judge thought to hand down a techie order... Moving on...

OBAMA - Tell ya Momma

I endorse this message.
Let the real show begin! In the next few weeks Obama will pick a running mate, preferably not Clinton as she will not win any new votes from the Republican side.
Anyways, these are exciting times!

Banning genetic discrimination : Nature News

http://www.nature.com/news/2008/080425/full/news.2008.780.html?s=news_rss

The law protects employees and insurance customers from genetic discrimination, thus making it a necessary law that should be hitting the Senate floor soon. I am totally with this one and it is getting almost unanimous backing from both Democrats and Republicans. Well, you know those rascally Republicans, a revision is in the works giving corporations more protection from being sued too easily on the basis of genetic discrimination.
Really, we don't need a Gattaca-like future.

Lou Dobbs Almost Calls Condi A "Cotton Picker"

Lou Dobbs Almost Calls Condi A "Cotton Picker": "'Not a single one of these cotton...[stammering]...these just ridiculous politicians should be the moderator on the issue of race.'"

(Via The Huffington Post | Full News Feed.)

I think that at this point everyone knows Lou Dobbs "perspective" on his good friends that live south of the border, and don't give me that whole crap regarding him marrying a latina. This recent racist Freudian slip, to me, is revealing of his opinion: it's just sitting there, marinating, waiting right under his tongue...
